Description

What This Gout / Tophi Management Covers

  • Painful, hot, swollen joints (commonly big toe, ankle, knee, wrist, elbow)
  • Chronic uric acid build-up forming firm lumps under the skin (tophi)
  • Limited movement or inability to put weight on the affected foot
  • Recurrent flare-ups that keep coming back and are affecting work or sleep
  • Concerns about long-term joint damage or deformity from untreated gout

Who This Service Is For

  • Patients with sudden severe joint pain suspected to be gout
  • Patients with visible tophi (hard, chalky-looking uric acid deposits) who want them medically controlled
  • Patients already diagnosed with gout but still flaring frequently
  • Patients told their uric acid is “high” and want a proper plan, not just painkillers
  • Patients struggling to work, stand, walk or sleep during attacks

How Medical Management Works

  1. Clinical Assessment
The doctor reviews your flare pattern, pain level, swelling, previous attacks, other health issues (blood pressure, diabetes, kidney function) and any current medication or supplements.
  2. Targeted Medication
Prescription medication is given (if appropriate) to control inflammation and pain in the short term. You may also receive uric acid–lowering medication as part of long-term prevention if you meet criteria. Dosing is individualised to protect the kidneys and avoid unsafe drug combinations.
  3. Tophi / Joint Status Review
If you already have tophi, the clinician will assess their size, tenderness, risk of skin breakdown and whether they are limiting movement or causing joint deformity. You will be advised if ongoing medical control is enough, or if you may later require procedural/surgical input for severe cases.
  4. Lifestyle and Trigger Guidance
You will receive clear instructions on hydration, diet triggers (high purine intake, binge patterns), alcohol patterns if relevant, weight management and how to avoid sudden repeat flares.
  5. Follow-Up Plan
You are advised when to return for review, how to monitor new swelling, and when to seek urgent care (e.g. fever, spreading redness, suspected joint infection instead of gout).

Why Choose WeCare Clinic for Gout / Tophi Care

  • Immediate Pain / Swelling Control – Focus on calming the active flare so you can walk, stand, work and sleep again.
  • Uric Acid Strategy – Long-term control plan to reduce future attacks instead of only reacting every time it flares.
  • Joint Protection – Early management helps reduce permanent joint damage and deformity related to chronic tophi.
  • Chronic Disease Support – Blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and weight management are available in the same clinic network, which matters because these conditions often travel together with gout.
  • Clear Home Instructions – You leave knowing what to take, what to avoid, and how to act fast at the next warning sign instead of waiting until the pain is unbearable.
