Description
What the 3D Baby Scan Shows
- Baby’s facial features in 3D (face outline, lips, nose, cheeks)
- Baby’s general appearance and body position at the time of scan
- Visible movements such as hand-to-face or yawning if baby is active
- Basic well-being impression based on position and observed activity
Who This Scan Is For
- Parents who want a clearer “face view” of baby before birth
- Pregnancies in the later second trimester or third trimester, when facial definition is better
- Parents who have already done routine 2D medical scans and now want a bonding / keepsake style view
How the 3D Scan Works
- Position Check
Baby’s position, amniotic fluid around the face area and placenta placement are assessed. Good visibility depends on how baby is lying. - 3D Imaging
A 3D ultrasound mode is used to capture baby’s facial structure and surface detail. The aim is to create a lifelike view of the face and profile. - Feature Review
Parents are shown the best frames where baby’s face is most visible. The clinician will point out which parts are face, arm, placenta, cord etc., so you understand what you’re looking at. - Basic Guidance
You are advised on what was seen, and whether baby’s position made imaging easy or difficult. If the face is covered by hands, cord or placenta at that moment, image clarity may be limited.
Important Notes
- This scan is primarily for viewing baby’s features and bonding. It is not a full diagnostic anomaly scan.
- Image clarity depends on baby’s position, fluid in front of the face and gestational age at the time of scan.
- A standard medical 2D/obstetric scan is still required for clinical growth tracking and wellbeing review.
