Description
What This Procedure Does
- Cuts or seals the vas deferens (the tubes that carry sperm) so sperm no longer mixes into semen
- Prevents pregnancy by stopping sperm from reaching the partner
- Does not change sex drive, erection strength, ability to ejaculate or male hormones
- Designed as a permanent birth control option for men
Who It’s For
- Men who have completed their desired family size
- Couples who want long-term birth control without daily pills / implants / IUD
- Men who prefer to take responsibility for contraception instead of relying only on their partner
- Men who understand this is intended to be permanent
How the Vasectomy Works
- Pre-Procedure Counselling
The doctor reviews medical background, bleeding risk and family planning goals, and confirms that you want a permanent solution. - Local Anaesthesia
The scrotal area is cleaned and numbed. You stay awake, but the operative area is pain-controlled. - Access to the Vas Deferens
A small opening is made to reach the vas deferens on each side. The tubes are cut, sealed or blocked so sperm cannot travel through. - Closure and Dressing
The small access site is closed / covered. A light dressing and support instructions are given to control swelling. - Recovery and Clearance
Mild soreness or bruising is common for a few days. You will be advised on rest, scrotal support, when you can resume sexual activity and heavy exercise, and how long to use backup contraception until follow-up confirms that sperm count is effectively cleared.
Aftercare and Safety Points
- You are not instantly “cleared” on the same day — backup contraception is required until confirmed otherwise
- Swelling, mild ache or light bruising is normal and usually settles with rest and support underwear
- You will receive written instructions on hygiene, pain control and when to seek urgent review (sudden severe swelling, fever, discharge)
- A scheduled follow-up is part of the service
